Cambria

It was a Mama and baby day today! Anthony had a game in Fresno and I didn't feel Iike making the long drive to the Valley to sit in the sun with the baby so we stayed behind.

Instead of a lazy day at home, Michael and I hopped in the car and drove 30 minutes to a cute little beach town called Cambria. It's so pretty there with pine trees growing along the coast. Nit to mention it was about 60 degrees when we arrived! Thankfully I was prepared with warm clothes in the trunk!

We spent the day waking around town, exploring the shops, eating lunch at a cafe, and a trip to the beach. It was actually Michael's first time seeing the ocean! I snapped tons of photos of Michael, but had to keep chasing after him because he kept crawling straight for the water! Needless to say, he loved it and I had a wonderful day with my boy!

California Warriors

The Warriors has been Anthony's baby for the past 7 months or so and his hard work is paying off! So far it looks like they will make playoffs! I'm so proud of him for putting this team together. He's more than a coach to these men, he's also the team manager, owner, taxi driver, and accountant. It ended up being way more involved and intense than either of us anticipated. So many guys depending on him in a league that is disorganized...to say the very least. There have been nights when he's on the phone until midnight arranging fields to play on , refs to hire, and players rides to games the night before game day.

I give him a hard time because I wish the team was less consuming, and I think he feels the same way too at this point, but I'm glad he did it. Not many people, especially at his age, would take on this huge endeavor. I'm proud that he works hard to achieve his dreams! Go Warriors!

Our Adventure!

I didn't think we'd ever leave Clovis, our home, and our friends. It's hard to believe, but we'll be moving at the end of this month! Here's how it all came about......Anthony went to his annual meeting in San Luis Obispo and in talking with a coworker he was told there was an opening for a marketer in the area. Anthony mentioned that he would love to live there because it is obviously so beautiful. He didn't think much of it, until he was called two days later and offered the job!!!!! He accepted and here we are!!!

The past week has been a whirlwind of emotions. First we were very excited to live at the coast. Anthony has always wanted to return to the weather and atmosphere he grew up in and I, well I've never imagined I would be so lucky to live near the ocean. After the initial excitement came a rush of fear and uncertainty. First of all, we just bought our home, our first home, and we absolutely LOVE it! When we bought it we thought it would be our home for at least 10 years. We've babied it, and made it our own, and it really feels like home. Then there are our friends. Rob and Brie, Moses and the neighbors we love.

We almost backed out until we realized this is an opportunity that we can't pass up. I was recently 'pink slipped' by Fresno Unified, so my career in this valley is uncertain. We don't have to sell our home, we can rent it and come back if things don't work out in SLO. Our friends can visit us or we can make the trip to Fresno. It would be a great environment to raise Michael, and a huge opportunity for Anthony professionally!

Now we're in the process of finding people to rent our house that our neighbors will like and won't destroy the house! :/ We have an even bigger task of finding a place to rent before the end of the month. Michael and I will have to stay with Rob and Brie the second week of June so I can finish out the end of the year with my kiddo's at school. Whhhew! We have a TON to do, but we very very excited!!!!!

Here are some pictures of our home sweet home!!!

6 months! Half a year already!!!

Happy half-Brithday to Michael! He's the light of our lives! I can't believe how fast time is flying! Here are some milestones for the month:
  1. He can sit unsupported!
  2. He eats all kinds of food like squash, peas, chicken, carrots, rice, apples, and bananas!
  3. He can grab his toys
  4. Sit up in his high chair
  5. Cut his first tooth!

We have a crawler!!!

Michael has perfected his army crawl and can now make it about half way across the living room floor before he tires out! It is so cute, and amazing that only a few months ago he couldn't even grasp a toy! I mean, one day he starts sitting on his own and within a few weeks he's moving around on his own! Since he has discovered he can now move on his own, you can see him focus on something across the room and he just takes off after it. Now, he's not up on his knees going real fast. He's kind of doing a caterpillar wiggle. It looks quite exhausting. It's so cute when he gets tired out, he takes a little break by resting his head on the floor. It truly is time to baby-proof the house!

Babs helping around the house ;)

Since we found out about Abbey's condition, she's become the little princess around here! It's impossible to discipline her when she looks at you with those sweet brown eyes! We don't make her sleep in the crate every night so she sneaks up on the couch, and I even pretend not to see her sneak a few bites of cat food! Today when I was doing laundry I came out of the room to see she had made a bed out of the piles of clothes I had sorted. Did I kick her off? Of course not, I just did the laundry around her! SPOILED!

Abbey Girl

Our little girl is not feeling well. She's been limping off and on since September. When we first noticed it we took her to the vet and had an x-ray taken. No breaks, so we were told to quarantine her for a possible ligament tear. It was supposed to heal on it's own.

Well, months have passed and she has had the limp off and on the entire time. One day she is fine, the next day she can't put weight on it. So I took her to another vet for a second opinion. This time the diagnosis was completely different.

She has hip dysplasia in both hips, worse on the side she favors. She also has a mass in her right knee that is most likely a tumor or cancer. Hearing that was the most devastating news. We were not ready to hear what the vet told us. She is just a baby, barely three years old!

Our choices to the doc were clear; put her to sleep now, or wait and do it later. We chose to take her home and make her as comfortable as possible. She is taking some pretty strong pain medication that makes her as playful as ever. I hate knowing that our time with her is ticking away. I try not to think about not seeing her sweet, pouty little face every day. I am however very grateful to have more time with her and to be able to spoil her for as long as I can. She is the best pup I have ever had!
